Planning a Disney trip without the kids knowing....

yeah, it's both a lot of fun and a LOT of stress, lol. I hate having secrets, I am the worst person to keep secrets away from the people I love, especially my kids so keeping this away from my kids for this long has been hell! I have 7 more days to go and then we can let the cat out of the bag. Trip has been planned, everything has been booked, dinners have been reserved and most breakfasts and lunches also. It is our first trip to Disney World and I feel all I'll be doing is eat eat and EAT! Is that was most people do when they go to Disney do, EAT?

But it will be so much fun and so worth it to see the look on their face. See, to give you guys the back story, those who do not know, my husband won the Showcase Showdown on the Price is Right last year and due to being deployed we missed out on going on the trip he won to Ireland. The awesome people at CBS told us that we had 8k to play with, we could pick any place in the world, just name it and they would make a trip for us. We thought about trip for the two of us to Paris, or some exotic place. Then I though, why not surprise the kids with a trip to Disney World as they have not had a vacation EVER and they have missed their daddy for a year now. So I asked the great people at CBS if that was possible, if they could make a great package to Disney World for all four of us instead of just the two of us. Of course that was no problem, and since we had so much money to play with and we were not traveling overseas we are able to go rather grand, stay in a Deluxe Resort in the Park, get upgraded room, get deluxe dining package etc, so the only thing we need to think of is tips and souvenirs! We haven't told the kids a THING! Been able to keep the lips tight locked on this one for almost four weeks now which is a monstrous record for me alone!

We wont tell them a thing until the morning off. They think we have to drive their grandma to the airport, but there we are going to hand them a letter that says, "we are going to Disney World" and video tape the reaction, lol. I can't wait to see it, I just can't wait!! I don't know if I can't wait those seven days we have left!!!! I'm about to burst.......

An actual HAIR bow!

I did this for my daughter today, she loved it, she is stylish, she has the best mom in the world :-) Yes, I´m awesome like that!

first adventure

seriously am going to hibernate or sign up of the military so I can go on long deployment and tell my husband "payback time" when our daughter reaches her teenage years. She is 6 1/2 years old but she things she is 6 going on 16! Today was one of those days where we had to "follow" through or we would have forever ruined any credibility in our kids eyes when it comes to threatening them with "taking things away" or "I will call your father, or grandfather" etc.

Simplest thing as in eating a ham sandwich for lunch before going to a baseball game is all she had to do, but NO, she had to put up an attitude, she had to stall, she had to lay on the couch, she had to lay on the floor, she had to twirl her hair around her finger. Basically do anything BUT eat that sandwich. We had told her that if she wouldn't finish before as specific time, or at least if she wouldn't show us that she was attempting to at least stat to eating it, that we would call Papa Joe and ask him if she could come stay with him while we would go to the baseball game, just us and Mr. Man! She cried, she screamed, she chocked on her own spit almost she screamed so much. She can be such a drama queen. It came to that moment that we had to make a decision, do we follow through or do we give in? As hard as it was, we did what we had to do, we followed through. We called Papa Joe, asked him if she could come stay with him and thankfully he completely backed us up on it and was cool with it. Miss P. was devastated but I am hoping she learned her lesson. Only time will tell though.

I'm hoping to keep this blog as a way for me and Hubby to keep stories for the kids alive. We go through so much fun with them every single day but yet we forget it so easily. Some things are fun yet others not so much fun, however, you can always find humor in anything after the fact! We are also in the process of surprising them with a HUGE Disney World trip in two weeks, well less than two weeks and that is also the reason behind this blog. I want to write about this moment as I know they will have so much fun, plus I am having so much fun planning everything leading up to the vacation that they have no clue of and wont have any clue off until the morning we fly off to Disney :-)

Don't be surprised also if some posts will be written by my husband or if some posts will be written in Icelandic or partially in Icelandic and partially in English as I am going to be doing this for my family back home too.

Love,
Sig
